Citabria 109 vs 108-2

What/Who determines what oil filter you can use for your spin on oil filter? 108-2 are a bit hard to find, 109 are the same filter but larger(longer), all other specs same. 72 ECA
 
As the 108 and the 109 have the same internal construction the 109 will work just fine as long as it will physically fit in the space provided.
I used to use the 109 cause I could actually get them cheaper than the 108 from Wag Aero.
A picker of nits might observe an oil filter adapter STC needs the 48108 because that's whats called out in the instructions that need to be compiled with...
We choose to not pay attention to those kind of people. 🥸

Copy all. Thanks. I have a ton of room for it. My research says the same. The spin on unit I have is actually STC for different aircraft that use the 109.
