I own a Hatz Biplane that was built using an IO-320 engine from a 1974 Decathlon. During my condition inspection I noticed that the seal between the exhaust and one of the tail pipe extensions has burned through (see pics). I have looked for a parts catalog for the Decathlon online, without success. Does this look like the standard exhaust from a Decathlon? Could you provide me with the PN/source for the seal?

No, but that looks exactly like the seal between the cast iron manifold and steel pipe on my Mustang convertibles. Might try the aviation department over at NAPA.

I’ll jump in here the pipe should have what’s called a fire ring. This is a short peace of pipe pressed into the down pipe to support the fiber gasket from crushing inward. They also make steel gaskets which will do the same thing any exhaust shop will know what I’m talking about. Best of luck.
