5606 Hydraulic Fluid and Paint

Was just wondering if 5606 hydraulic fluid is corrosive to paint and/or powder coating. It's mineral oil based but I can't remember if it corrodes paint the way regular DOT 3 does which is glycol based.

No. 5606 doesn't do anything worse than make everything slick. DOT 3/4 will take paint off cars, boats, 4 wheelers and, if required, small children...

Dot 5 was the best, but it got too expensive. I only have one Cub on Dot 5, and when I run out, it is back to 5606 for ecomomic reasons.

Figured I’d pull open an old thread, just bought some shell 41 in the pint sized cans. how is everyone sealing The open cans or are you transferring extra fluid into new containers?
