Would anyone happen to know the air filter part number for a Citabria 7ECA with an O-235-C1 and the round air filter element?

My parts book is missing the page with the air filter and cowl assembly on it.

Thanks!
Bart

Chris, the earlier ones were round, auto style paper filters. I found another parts manual in my box of stuff, the air filter is a Fram CA-121PL which isn't made anymore so I bought a Wix 42221, a Fram equivalent according to a cross-reference site.

edit: now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder if it's legal to use an equivalent. :unsure:

The plane I am rebuilding uses the same filter, I'll be following this thread and your progress tracking down replacement filters.

Thanks Chris. I was at the Brackett site earlier today looking at the options and it didn't seem to fit but I'll call Monday to confirm. Have you ever installed one in place of the paper filter elements? I've already got a new Wix on the way, think there is any harm in using it for a year and doing the Brackett at the next annual?

Two problems with the paper filters...
1. A backfire will light one up. They aren't made to self extinguish.
B. If they get wet they come apart. On a car they're somewhat protected but not so much in your plane.
Still, they were used for a time so if you and your IA are happy with it I shall not rain on the parade...
Happy New Year!
Chris

And a happy new year to you too Chris!

Thanks for the explanation. I looked at it again before I dozed off at exactly 0002 this morning, I think it was the STC installation instructions that threw me off, they sound like the instructions for a typical flat Brackett filter with the metal support frame. If they'll respond to an email then I'll have an answer soon.

not a big deal, just an email reply from Scott Brackett on a Saturday (that happens to be a holiday)! You nailed it @Hiperbiper so I'll be ordering the parts tonight. Thanks again :)

Here's what Scott had to say;

The BA-106 is the replacement for the CA-121PL. Yes you do utilize the existing plate. It is a bit different set up than other installations. I have not installed one, so my advise is limited.
