7GC STC for 0-320

Is there an STC to install an 0-320 in a 1958 7GC? Nothing on the TDC about a 150 HP option; searched the FAA web site for said, no luck. Is there one out there?

Probably not. But here's the thing: it is on the 7ECA type cert (see item 125) and 7ECAs are probably the most underpriced lightplane out there for what they are.

Let's say your Champ would sell for $25K and you can find a 7ECA with good O-320 for $40K. That cost you $15K plus use tax. You would probably have to pay 15 for a good used O-320 anyway, and then buy the STC, modify the airframe, get new exhaust, cowl, etc., and if you are not s mechanic, pay someone two weeks' labor. Sounds like a real lose-lose proposition.

But hanging a 150 hp engine on an airframe designed for a C-90 is probably not a good idea even if you could get approval.

The 7GC TDC shows ar an 0-290d2, and an agricultural version came with an 0-320. Not sure what you mean about a C-90. But do copy the message on a 7ECA, one of which I owned, and is also in my search bar.
 
I just glanced. Apparently the only legal engine for the 7EC is the C-90. Again, it was a quick glance - you are the one who needs to study it.

Perhaps I'm not being clear in the title and my response to your post. I'm not referencing 7EC; I'm referencing a 7GC. Very different beasts, different TDC's. I did study it, but I might have missed something.
