Aerobatics and "Big Tires"

I don't think there are any restrictions. But these are not the best airplanes to go places w here an 8:50x6 is not sufficient.

Most of my Cub friends rum big tires for appearance only. They are all aware of the performance hit.

I’d be interested to hear if anybody is doing acro with 21’s. Would think it would be a performance drawback, maybe not a weight issue? Specifically, with a High Country Explorer. Lower pressure 8.5’s work very well and may be the best compromise for both worlds, but there’s some off strip spots…….Plus, probably looking at a good $8000+ for the conversion.

Off the subject some what….but I love the Denali scout! I’m just wondering if it would be possible to have the factory build an aerobic Denali Scout? If possible…thoughts?

Acro with 29’s ? 73 Bellanca 7GCBC .
mine aint for looks, but have a short one way strip, land on several short bunch grass strips and I like the extra “shock absorption “ of the bigger tires to take the stress offen my airframe .
Did a lot of basic , minimal load acro with 8:50x6 tires on her (with my 30 yr fighter pilot brother in the back seat ) but have not have the advantage of having him to save me from myself since the install of the of the scout gear and 29’s .
Other than my own perceived drag induced performance limitations ( Im too big a sissy to try these by myself )
I am also interested in any input that the initial poster posted .

Info from Jerry Jr.: The Scout wing is longer and designed for bush use. Not designed for the G’s encountered with aerobatics. There are no specific restrictions against aerobatics with tires larger than 21x8.50x6, but there can be some disruption of airflow over the horizontal stabilizer and loss of energy in the maneuvers. Not recommended.
