Does anyone have experience with an ACK E-04 ELT installation in a 7GCBC? I just removed the factory installed AmeriKing from my 2000 model aircraft and replaced it with the ACK unit. My Citabria has the factory Com antenna mounted on the top of the fuselage behind the baggage area. This is places it directly above the ELT antenna location. ACK strongly recommends a minimum of 3 ft lateral separation between antennas to prevent transmission interference activating the ELT. American Champion is using the ACK as the factory installed ELT now but the Com antenna on the newer models is mounted farther forward behind the skylight which provides the 3 ft clearance. I am assuming that others might have replaced their ELT with the popular ACK unit. Has anyone had any experience of operational problems of false triggering?
