Attempted Scam!!!

I am pretty sure someone tried to scam me on the forum. Breakingbad is the member name. Hopefully Im wrong.

I posted a thread that I was looking for a firewall for my 7AC. I was private messaged to contact a member on a gmail address. Breaking bad stated that this person may have what Im looking for. Through email, the person said they indeed had a firewall and it would be $300. I told them "I'd take it!" They sent a CashApp QR code and I tried to send $300. Cashapp notified me that they canceled and refunded the money "for my protection." Thinking there was something wrong with my CashApp account, I tried again with my wife's CashApp account to have the same thing happen - THANK GOD.

I asked for a phone contact, it went to a google voice message. The person called me back and the tech details sound strange. I asked for them to send me a photo of the firewall. They sent a firewall that was posted on this site 2 years ago. The reverse google image search tool me straight to the old post from two years ago. WATCH OUT GUYS! CashApp saved me $300 today.

Glad you were protected by your app. I looked at his email address, did a google search and it returned a lot of hits, that person is all over the internet trying to scam people. He's been banned so thanks for posting about it.

He tried to get me as well as did one other on here (rubinbrett, I think) when I was looking for a prop. Said he had a friend that had one. Called the number and figured it out pretty quick. Sent a "Nice Try" response. I did let Bart Know, this was back in July. These scams are almost always when you post a WTB. You have to be vigilant, even when you are desperate and hopeful as we all are at times trying to get parts for these old birds.

The site software does a great job of filtering out spammers but some do get through unfortunately. Some legit users get caught up in the software and registration approval is delayed but it's a small price to pay, every day there are spammers being zapped.
