I have a brake cylinder leaking on my Citabria. How does it work replacing the o rings without removing the master cylinder. I would rather not take the plastic lines off and maybe opening a can of worms with them

Thanks
Randy

Good luck! I had a hard enough time with them in a vise with special tools to hold things during snap ring removal/replacement. Be very careful with the Stat-O-Seal.

IMPO you need to take the cylinder out to do the job properly. Whatever time you think you'll save by not removing it will be eaten up working around pedals, cables etc. It's also messy w/5606 dripping everywhere.

Yes. It looks impossible, but you just undo the bottom of the boot cowl. Then it is trivial. Get a creepy crawler with an adjustable back rest.

I ordered rebuild kits for both brake cylinders for what the book shows i have. Took them out last night. When I took them apart my cylinders didn't look like the drawing in the book. I didn't need some of the rings and the one at the top that slides on the shaft was not included in the kit. Had to go to O Reilly's. I would rather have parts with an MS number, but i didn't have any idea what o ring it was. The hardest part was getting the belly pan back in place. Now I have two brake cylinders that don't leak and two hard brake peddles.

By the way. I was concerned about messing up the plastic line from the brake cylinder up to the reservoir. Once the cylinder was out and in my hand I found I could by hand unscrew the fitting from the cylinder. It was a non issue.
