Apologies if this is common knowledge but is there a technical spec that recommends against continuous operation between 2050 RPM and 2300 RPM on a C85-8? I like this RPM range on downwind and it still seems smooth as a hot stick of butter... I'm spinning a McCauley round tipped climb prop. Thanks! - Mike

Is there a restriction listed in the STC paperwork for installing the C-85?
I've not run across the restriction. BWDIK

Tell us more. Why isn’t the civilian version restricted? I have been running C-85s for four decades, and fly three of them almost daily - never heard of a restriction.

I don't see a reason for the restriction. The Aircraft Spec Sheet (TCDS) states that the L-16A is the same as 7BCM.
But I am not his IA.

Thanks Sully - Just saw your PM. Yes your research is correct - 7BCM-503 - as far as I can tell a carbureted C85 doesn't know if its in an L-16 or a 7AC. I'm guessing the rev restriction in the Military Flight Handbook may have something to do with fuel injection system that L-16s left the factory with. Again that's just my guess though. It's just that I really like that part of the power band above the carb heat zone but not firewalled.
