I was asked if Aeronca Chiefs are welcome here and to that I say yes! The Champ, Citabria, and Decathlon are joined in history by their common triangular fuselage frame but, IMHO, the Chief is a much beloved part of the family tree so please feel free to post your Chief photos, build threads, tech questions, etc. wherever you see Champs being discussed.

Thanks for the question!

@Bob Turner , I got your message! :)

Obviously, I put my Chief saga elsewhere. The Chief is an interesting bird - with only 30 landings in my log, I can honestly say I do not yet understand the Chief. I can say that it seems docile.

It does not have the control harmony of a Cub - it sort of wallows in comparison. Wiggling the wings is not a crisp maneuver. Thursday we will take it to the practice area and quickly explore really slow flight and stalls.

Paul Agaliotis is my guru for all things Champ - I know Cubs, but keep my mitts off airplanes I am not intimately familiar with. Unless their carbs fall apart in the desert.

I can see this needs a boost. My young Chief student got his Sport license this summer, and now is flying that thing into and out of the world's mos complicated airspace, presumably with the happy help of SoCal. He has only a portable com - no transponder - and is in and out of Santa Monica, Hawthorne, Santa Barbara, and who knows where else.

I think he is 20, and a junior at USC.

Is he here with us yet? Photos? SoCal, ahhhh, love SoCal. :)
