No data plate obviously? I haven't seen enough of these planes naked to be able to help, other than say it's a Citabria (or possibly even a Champ).
 
there are other differences in tube thickness where the extra strength is needed but the forward spar connect tube is where it is the most easily seen.
 
I'd guess 70's Citabra...
Stringers over the cabin (no skylight).
Welded tab for a shoulder harness on the aft cluster.
Solid mounts for 3 push/pulls in the instrument panel mount.
