I realize this is an obscure question. Can coconut oil damage the ceconite and finish? I'm planning to purchase an airplane which was covered with Stits Polyfiber mid 2000s. At some point since recover a fine young fellow broke into the hangar and wrote his name in black sharpie ink on the side of the plane (approx 12 inch height). The previous owner did their best to remove the graffiti however it still looks terrible. I've read coconut oil can be used to remove sharpie ink from normal surfaces and I thought it might be worth a try on the ceconite. Any concerns or alternative removal methods would be appreciated. Thanks

12" high x how long?
I am going to guess that in the end you will cut that section out, give it to that youngster to hopefully decorate his cell wall with, and put new fabric over the hole.
I think I would try silver first, and if the Sharpie doesn't bleed through, shoot white over that, then matching Poly Tone.
You could do some wet-sanding first, but I think the sharpie ink probably migrated through to the fabric.

Approximately 3 ft long, it's not likely worth a recover or giant patch. Worst case I cover it with some sort of vinyl decal I suppose.

That will work. For small stuff I occasionally use Mylar tape (expensive; Aircraft Spruce) and specially mixed rattlecan paint. But try the alcohol and the coconut oil first, on a small area.
