Door handle spring

texasairsalvage.com has a couple of Citabria 7ECA's that they are parting out. I'd guess it's the same or interchangeable but they might have a more definitive answer for you. You might have to buy the assembly if it's the same.

Or, if you can get it out, you can take it to your local hardware store and try to match it up to what they have, for purely reference purposes of course. :)

One of my buddies tried to "lock" my Decathlon door, and sheared both pins off. With some ingenuity, I replaced the pins. The entire latch is a very simple affair, and I am sure the hardware store solution will work, and save you hundreds of dollars.

It's worth calling American Champion Aircraft to see if they have a part that will fit. I've found their prices to be reasonable and, Chad, the parts guy that answers the phone, has been very helpful.

If you take it apart please take photos and post the fix here when you're done. :)

These door latches are used on motor homes or recreation vehicles and can be purchased from those dealers for around $60. Same latch.

Where can I get a door latch spring for my 1957 champ ? Thanks
@31Bravo Can you post a photo of the door handle you have? I'm curious now to see if it's something that you can get from an RV supplier. :)

Would it be more like a screen door latch assembly or for the main door?

I had the part number, but can't find it. There is a number somewhere on the door latch/handle that I used to find one at a RV dealer. It has been a few years so can't remember where I found it. It is an entry door part.
