I am converting my 7ECA to a 7GCAA, Continental to Lycoming O320 E series. I need a Dynafocal mount. I know they are typically built with a Conical mount, so any insight or availability would be appreciated.
Just to follow up. I have spoken to Lycoming and ACA, measured numerous times and think I have a solution. The O-390 used by ACA uses ‘essentially’ the same case as all four cylinder engines from Lycoming. I have ordered a mount from ACA and will be confirming fit as soon as it’s built.
If anyone out there has any experience with this plan, or other input, please type away!
Final note on this thread. I built a jig to match the engine mount points and took it to ACA. I test fit it to their engine mount that they use now on the O-390. Fit perfectly.
I brought the mount home, put it on my engine stand with a firewall mock-up and hung my O-320.
I am working on the engine rebuild now, and getting ready to do the switch this summer.
I’m pleased to have a factory dyna focal mount, gives some peace of mind.
Have you captured the field approval? Not a Canadian rules expert, but they may be similar.
Going to 160 can be done in the USA with a logbook entry, but it requires very specific components, including metal spar wings. I am sure with the right ASI your plans can be approved, but if you have not already done it, now is the time to get approval.
