In talking to Ron recently he has a jig for the various engine mounts for repair. He introduces two new supports. ACA I believe have made improvements to the old mount design over the years, so the load is evenly distributed.

Does anyone have experience in this area?

Someone kindly provided an answer.

The Decathlon 180Hp had a ring installed on the Motor Mount to stiffen things up.

The Mount on the Scout 180Hp apparently has remained the same since day one.

Are you seriously concerned about your engine falling off? If so, the Aero guys just string a cable in there to hold it. If you lose a prop blade, you will most likely lose even the best engine mount.

While I am not planning on a mishap, I have the cable. Looks like they stole it off a telephone pole!

But if your goal is to just add weight, swapping engine mounts might be considered a minor alteration.

No, however the way the original is designed, it's suggested that there's uneven wear on the lower motor mounts because of the weight distribution.

I know, it's been out there for 46 years why mess with it? Point taken. In my case I need to find a used serviceable one, send my original to "The Shop" for refurbishment or buy new from ACA.
