Firewall mounted battery

Any suggestions on a firewall mounted battery mod??? Can I do one on my 2001 7GCBC?
Who would provide the kit/battery??? I have an annual coming up next month. A firewall mounted battery is on my wishlist & the battery needs replacing...

ACA is pretty good about kits for TC updates and Service Letter compliance. Call Chad and see what he has.

I called Chad and the install kit is 250 dollars. The only obstacle is an angle needs to be welded on the inside of the firewall FYI, for support.

Is there anything welded inside??? Maybe I misunderstood Chad. I thought he said a support bracket needed to be installed.

In the picture the black metal is the battery "tray" support bracket for the battery. This was attached to the firewall with some AN bolts and nuts and some sealant. Pretty straightforward. Biggest issues is finding an area on the firewall for the battery. The SuperCubs put the battery under the front seat but we couldn't find an STC for that and there wasn't much room.

Without studying, my guess is that relocating a battery is a minor alteration. If an IA decides it is major, then isn't AC 43.13-2B approved data?
