I'm researching to know if there were different part number gear legs used on the 7ACA and the later 7ECs (before the aluminum legs) as compared to the other 7 series models. I would assume that a lighter weight gear leg would have been wanted on the 7ACA. I do not have a 7ACA parts manual. Does anyone have the p/n of the 7ACA gear legs ?

Hi Eric,

I don't have part numbers but I was told by Jim Hayton who reconditions them that there were early style steel legs and later style steel legs. He didn't elaborate on what the differences were but they were both for similar gross weight airframes, just different somehow. what is the max gross weight of the 7ACA?

The 7ACA remained at the original gross weight of the 7AC, at 1220 lbs. The later 7EC models, made in 2006, had gross weights of 1320 lbs. Now, the first production models of the 2006 7ECs tended to be heavier than desired and I heard an ACA rep say "we have to put this airplane on a diet". That led to the development of the O-200D engine and the aluminum gear legs. What I was wondering is ...... were the 7ACA gear legs used on the first production 2006 7ECs and were they lighter than the standard production legs used on all of the other 7 series models ? I'm thinking of a gear leg conversion on my 7AC project.
