Mikeal Carlson has built several WW1 airplanes that are exact copies of the original birds his Dr1 and D VII were built around the original engines he found...and he flys them like you'll never see done in the States...
I'm posting this because several people have opined that my 7AC with it's WW1 paint scheme would have been a match for the DR1...of course they have only seen 'em doing straight and level camera passes.
I think not!

Great video. The old Rhinebeck aerodrome in New York has many orginal and reproductions of WW1 and they fly them on weekends during the summer.
