8KCAB Fuel level indicator

Here is mine for a 78 Decathlon. It came with the plane, so I have no insight into how it was calibrated, but it seems to work well enough for my purposes.

How quickly do you think the fuel transfers to the other tank when you're filling the first side?

Thanks for the level stick posts Bob and Ed. I ordered some clear acrylic tubing and I'm going to try to make a dip stick with it. I can't quite see the level on my paint stick that I've been using so it's time to try something new.

Wood indicates fuel level lots better than clear plastic tube. I have used both.
You may need to go over the numbers with a ball point every four or five years, and if you are a greasy guy like me, sand the stick occasionally.

I figured I'll dip the tank like soda straw with my thumb over the end. ID of the tube I ordered is 1/4", hard, clear acrylic. We'll see.

I thought maybe I'd paint the wood stick white then coat it with epoxy and scuff that to a rough finish to make the fuel line appear better. It isn't supposed to be that difficult! lol

You guys need to use pine or spruce. The fuel changes the color of the wood from amber to grey. If the wood is hard or non-porous it might be harder to see. Try a paint stir-stick, and use the Oak or Maple for something else.
