Fueling bib

Hi guys/gals
Before I disassembled my plane to do the wings, I was thinking it would be nice to make a bib for fueling to keep overflow from the tanks from getting under the fabric. The idea was to buy some sheet rubber of some sort, maybe 1/16" thick, and cut a hole that is just smaller that the filler neck so the rubber would be just tight enough when pulled down over the filler neck during fueling.

I thought I'd find tygon in sheet form but just saw it doesn't exist. What other rubber or synthetic stretchy sheet material would be resistant to avgas? I've got some silicon tubing soaking in a jar so maybe that will cut it but figured the resident brain trust would have a suggestion.

Me too. My Cub has one of those, from 1946. I make similar doilies for the new cub - they last about a year. Not sure, but I think the stuff that deteriorates is Buna N. Rubber was better in 1946.

There's a pic at the Rans website in 'used aircraft for sale' in which a man with a nice S-7 has a kind of micro-fiber looking 'bib' that looks nice.
I'd post a link but my brain trust brain is not sure how.
 
Testing with silicone in avgas shows it swells but that is with it soaking in it. Tygon is unaffected but we all could have probably guessed that would be the case. Maybe, since the bib will not be in constant contact with fuel, silicone could actually work. It is nice in that it can be bought in thin sheet form and is just stretchy enough to seal around the filler neck.
 
Iv seen ppl cary a sheet of rubber 1/8 thick 12 x12 with hole that they slide on after they take the cap off, then take it off after refueling
