Has anyone ever done a headliner with the aircraft fully covered? The gentleman at Airtex says he’s heard of it being done, just curious if it’s a worthy undertaking at some point for me.

Thanks!

Factory is adamant that the answer is no. They get the question a lot. They are generally helpful and encouraging, so I am inclined to believe that answer is borne of experience.

I know this thread is inactive, but I have a follow-on question so I thought I would inquire. During a wing rebuild, we installed the 13 gal wing tanks. We are also going to be installing shoulder harnesses. We ended up pulling the headliner-- it was just too much of a PITA trying to work around the headliner. From a safety standpoint, I think it was the right move-- it was impossible to see where we were running the fuel lines, if they were chafing anywhere, etc.

Having done that, however, and seeing this info about ONLY replacing during recover, are there alternatives? We talked about doing forward skylight, paying a seamstress make up a two-part headliner, just leaving the headliner out and making cub-style aluminum wing-root panels... what are that options?
