Hello there, I just bought my first airplane, a 1973 GCAA. It has metal spar wings on it and 8 series landing gear. I am a helicopter pilot by trade, and I am excited to explore being a stick wing pilot as well. I love bringing my dogs to come help me tinker with the airplane anddddd that pretty much sums me up. I’m here to ask questions and learn since I’m new to airplanes!

I was under the impression that all the gear legs were the same except for Scout. My Decathlon legs definitely interchange (8KCAB). Did you get standard aluminum legs or the taller Scout legs?

But welcome! This forum is reasonably active, with good information being shared all the time. You are going to like fixed-wing pleasure flying. Helicopter pilots usually transition rapidly.

Well that’s a good question Bob, and I don’t have an answer for you hahah. I’m so new that I just know what I saw written in the aircrafts logs about installing 8 series gear. Maybe the old gear was tired. When I read it I assumed it was an upgrade since it was done at the same time as the metal spar wings!

Here’s Molly, Waylon, and the gir

Nice looking family. Take out the back seat and stick and you can take them for a ride. Are your brake lines gun drilled through your gear legs? Flying doorless(y)
