Hello from Texas gulf coast, I recently bought a 1959 champ 7GC. It is good to be back in the air.

I have a question about weight and balance. This 7GC has a gross of 1650 and a load at 613. I am 215lbs and my passenger is 265 lbs. Half a tank of fuel at 18.5 gallons( 111lbs) for a total of 591 lbs plus oil. I have looked at the envelope, but can't figure it out. Would it be ok to fly in this configuration? 2000 ft grass strip.

the paperwork says ; cg range 14.2 -17.7 at 1650
10.2- 17.7 at 1230 or less
empty at 1050 11.59

Here's what I get. You might want to double check the arm distances. Bottom line, you're near the rear of the CG range (which is a good thing).

Welcome to the site Steve! Those CG charts can be confusing if you're used to calculating the arm based on weights, moments, and arms. The Champion 7ECA manual I have used the total weight and total moment on the charts to see if you're in the envelope. If I don't look at the chart for too long I go looking for the arm I calculated on the chart and I scratch my head for a while wondering why I'm out of CG range.

And why haven't you posted photos of your new plane yet?? C'mon man!:unsure::unsure:

Welcome! :D

I'm an engineer by trade so moment diagrams are like tying my shoes. One of the subjects in flight training where it could put my heels up and say
"bring it".

And yes, pics of the new plane or it didn't happen.
