The clear plastic air vents by my legs in the Decathlon cockpit are pretty shabby looking and I’d like to replace them. I see them available at Aircraft Spruce but am wondering how to get the old ones out of the holes and the new one installed. Any suggestions?

Not sure what you are talking about? Is there a plastic part that goes in the fresh air vent on the side? Mine is just the metal flap.

My plane has a clear plastic air vent in each sidewall about knee level that pops open and rotates for ventilation. They are called Snapvents. Perhaps they were installed by a previous owner and were not factory equipment. I will get a photo next time I’m at the hangar.

On my '68 7ECA there is a plastic liner through which the snap vents are installed in the boot cowl. If you have that plastic liner (it's like an overlay over the insulation blanket on the inside of the boot cowl), be really careful popping the snap vents out as the liner is prone to cracking. Mine was already cracked on one side when I had to remove the vents to paint the fuselage.
