Hi all,

New sub-forum, Instruments/Avionics. ACA current production aircraft are starting to get flat panel displays, what's in your plane?

My 7ECA is strictly VFR except for the G-meter, vertical speed indicator, and the turn and bank. I've always wondered why Citabria panels usually look like they been to war and back. Citabrias seem to be the only planes where people do entire fabric and engine jobs and re-use the existing interiors and panels.:unsure::unsure:

Let's see them all, the good, the bad, and the really nice! New panels welcome!

There's something jacked up with the upload feature. Not working so it normally does

Edit, for some reason switching browsers worked. In my normal browser it would let me select files and upload them but it said to "close the window or use return" which just took me back to my message with no pics available. Refresh didn't help.

All better now

I'll say mine is utilitarian but functional

Coworker in the front seat for the last two, to show the Dynon D3 "pocket EFIS" and the iFly 740b powered up.

G meter, digital oil pressure/temp, 4 channel CHT and EGT, volts, amps, VAL 2000 Com. Ignore the transponder as its days are numbered.

was surfing barnstormers this morning and it occurred to me how many panels pics there were to look at! so here we go. the pic names have the year/type for the plane they are from

Here's a question, why wouldn't you put the radios on the left side so you don't have to take your primary flying hand off the stick? if you're in the right seat of a side-by-side airplane you're doing stuff with your left hand (including all of the typing/programming for our flight management computer FMC in an airliner) so why the bias to having radios on the right side in a tandem plane? i'm kind of thinking, if doing a panel from scratch, that the avionics should be on the left. no?

you're probably right but what I'm wondering is, if the prop vernier can be put down and out of the way, can the mixture be placed there if there's no prop control? that would make the left panel more accessible for the radios to go there

I never really thought about it. Maybe in a Champ there isn't much to do with radios other than change a frequency now and then? Just let go of the stick for a while - a good airplane will stay right side up for a very long time while you tune and fiddle.

More panels....ACA has a new mid-height panel that makes a lot of sense, slightly higher than the original low panel, not quite as high as the original Scout IFR panels......the cream colored panel is the mid height one

'79 8KCAB Super D soon to be mine. Considering installing an electronic AI, replacing the decrepit Nav/Com, removing the CDI, and installing a dual USB charger.
