Old school 7's and 8's had curtain-style side panels. They hung from the bottom of the window frames by long springs, and were stapled to the floor under the carpet. Questions:

1. I have seen a drawing suggesting at least some side panels are now glued to aluminum sheets with lightening holes, which are in turn screwed to the frame. But also saw recent factory photos showing spring hangars. Anyone have insight?

2. How are the side panels anchored in the absence of carpet? I have seen factory photos where the bottom edge of the panels are hemmed, with what looks like something sewn inside the hem. Have also seen plenty of home jobs with aluminum strips affixed to the floor to hold the bottom edge of the panels down.

3. Seats. Will post more on that once I bogart some photos from FB to make my point.

I can post some photos as I have my interior kit from Flightline but it won't be until tomorrow afternoon. The side curtains have an aluminum angle that is held to the floor boards with those springy clip things.

I removed the rugs, then simply drilled some aluminum bar stock for wood screws. I never notice it. Picture the bar as on top of the bottom of the curtain.

My current GCBC is aluminum panels with the fabric glued to it..... HEAVY! I will be doing away with it.

I'd like to come up with a way to use aircraft fabric iron tight and paint it. Done this with a few cubs and a pacer, really like it. Will need to modify the floorboards of the citabria to make that work.

Otherwise, I'll use some other fabric with an aluminum angle glued to the bottom, 1/2" maybe, and screw it to the floor.

Is side panel kit a difficult install? Any estimate on how many hours to do a replacement with the kit?
