My 182 has been in the shop for the past couple months getting avionics so ive been grounded and was getting antsy. My local A&P was getting two airplanes ready to sell for an older gentleman that had lost his medical, a 172K and a 7BCM Champ. I had been talking with him about getting a taildragger, we looked at a couple of J3s, a bird dog, a PA-20 but never found the right one where price and condition matched my preference. Then this champ came up for sale.
She's a little rough with the paint job but she has a brand new C-85 engine and only 1250 total time, converted to a BCM, and new brakes and tire w larger tailwheel, and has fairly good condition synthetic fabric.
Meet Mater, as my airport friends have dubbed her. In the last two weeks i've put about 15hrs on it and earned my tailwheel endorsement in it. It has the door off STC, so the door immediately came off for some spring time fresh air flying.
