Hi All,
Thanks in Advance!
I've got an experimental 7ECA thats on straight floats. Its been living on our beach all summer, and now its time to get it into the garage for the winter for some repairs and upgrades.
We're going to be removing the wings on the beach, I've re and re'd wings on a cessna before so I'm not too concerned about that part.
But the part thats' troubling me, is what is the best way to lift the fuselage off the floats... They're too wide to fit on the trailer or into the garage door, so we'd like to build a wood stand to set it on for the winter. I've done a float swap on a cessna too, but it had the lifting eyes on the top of the fuselage and we had an enormous 'engine hoist' that could pickup the whole plane. The Citabria doesn't have any lifting eyes ontop, so I'm thinking a couple of long lifting slings under the belly and a telehandler is one solution, but I'd prefer to not spend $1000 to rent the machine for the weekend.
I was also considering making a couple wooden gantry's about 12' tall and then using chain hoists and long straps under the belly.
If anyone has done this and has any thing to share I'd would appreciate it soo much!
Thanks again!
Marc
