We are trying to find a set of engine mounts for our 7GCB ASAP. It appears everyone is backordered for a month. If anyone knows of a set sitting on a shelf please let me know.

What about using the standard Lycoming bushings? They seem to work just fine on Decathlons and Super Cubs, and are a bunch easier to install. Don't get cheap ones.

Not meaning to highjack this old thread but, my parts list calls for the Lord mounts. I am assuming Lycoming bushings are an approved replacement? I'm pretty sure my GCAA has Lycoming mounts on it now but they are already showing cracks in the rubber after only 3 years since installation.

We had Lycoming bushings in ours as well (glider tow plane). They only lasted a few seasons with the high number of cycles we do. Hopefully the Lord ones do better.

Hi Jason, I seen this older thread. I’m working on my 71 7GCBC, it has just the # 71032 conical rubber mounts, I’m trying to find out if I can upgrade to the J6230-1 Lords easily if you know? I seen your ACA parts list, do they require drilling the case and installing the roll pin? I’ve asked a couple AME’s here in Canada, one said, no just bolt them in? Spruce wants 455.00 Cad each for the mounts and they are non returnable… so I want to find out all the info I can prior to spending… I did purchase a full set of 71032 for a total of 170.00 Cad… this tells me the Lords must last a very long time. I’m fitting new cowls from Wag, I don’t want to trim them until I see if I can use the 6230’s.

The Lords lasted 15 years on my Dec - the bottom ones were mush by the end. I don't think cracks are a big deal - modern rubber cracks in six months. Look for squished, as in almost metal to metal contact. I am very happy with the Lycoming products.

I got these 71032 at local shop, all 8 come in a clear zip lock, the invoice just said shock rubbers, so I’m not sure they are lycoming … I just ordered the new Lords along with new bolts etc from Spruce an hour ago.
I question the roll pin though, I have a friend with Lords on his 67 ECA and there has never been a roll pin installed… in fact in one of the holes the one 1/2 of the Lord with the roll pin hole drilled is on the opposite side of where it should be, it’s on the head side/cylinder side…. So i guess drilling the mount to accept the roll pin is not an important item I guess or is for a different application?I thought the pin must have been to prevent maybe an essenttic bushing or something once in the proper position? I’ve only owned this plane since spring but known the plane and its mechanic forever, when I removed the shock rubbers the bottom ones were destroyed.
Happy New Year Bob ! 🍻🥳
