I havent started on this project need to finish some changes I'm making on my S1S Pitts, I've read through the instructions, It's interesting reading about some of the metal spar conversions. The brace at the butt end of the wing, to take the place of a compression member until wing is installed on the aircraft I was thinking of making one of square steel tubing probably similar to one of the members .I've used Super Flight covering procedure but not Stewart process.

Welcome to the website Charles. Have some pics (of the Pitts!)?? I'm going to build an S1 someday. Let's see some pics of the 7KCAB too, can't get enough! Start a thread in the Builds/Projects sub-forum, post pics from time to time, we'll egg you on, try to keep you motivated and tell you what a great job you're doing! :)

I've built 2 S1S PITTS, the first one built while living Miami, Fla. Curtis was close by in Homestead, a great help. The other built in N.C. for my son, a great father son project. Bought new set of plans for second Pitts, The first one had the M6 airfoil with 2 ailerons, changed to the round wing and 4 ailerons, Went from bungee landing gear to Aluminum one piece gear, little stiffer landing but got rid of those bungee chords. The first one I gas welded, used TIG welding on second. My son for several years used the Citabria in his airshow, He put on a show at Sun& Fun several years in a row a number of years ago. He did every maneuver he could with the engine running, including a avalanche, snap roll on top of a loop, then he would climb up to 2000 ft. shut the engine off, do a roll a one and one half turn spin, a loop then 2 parts of a 4 point roll come around roll from inverted to land. maybe some of the members saw him at Sun & Fun
