Mounting iPad or iPhone

Anyone have some photos/descriptions they could share from their Citabria/Decathlon/Champ installs? Looking for a way to install a removable mount for an iPhone to run Foreflight. Not interested in drilling holes. Also, if you have details on specific mounts, i.e. RAM mounts, model, specs, etc. that would be helpful and appreciated.

I’d like that too. It gets old putting my phone on the ledge and blocking out flight instruments.

Mount one of these to your frame tubing, either above or below the panel. Then use whatever combination of arms and holders puts the phone where you want it. Easy to install and remove, no cutting or drilling necessary. There are various quick release versions available, but IMO are more finicky.

Anyone know the O.D. of the frame tubing? I tested what Ed describes above. It’s an ugly monster hanging there when not in use. Having the O.D. of the frame I could sort through a couple other options. Thx!

OK. Here's my first try at attaching photos;

This is my GPS mount. It would probably work equally well for a phone. The bracket is a simple piece of bent sheet metal that's secured by an existing screw in the glareshield. Keeping in mind that we all probably have different panel arrangements, this blocks out my G-Meter but I don't seem to need to the G-meter and the GPS simultaneously.

I've tried to noodle-out a place to mount an iPad Mini but haven't had any luck. Some folks have mounted them to the tube on one side of the windshield but that's my primary sight line when landing and I don't want to lose it.

I mounted the ball below the panel lip, so it is not visible when not in use. See red arrow. Then used a double jointed arm to position the tablet holder where I wanted it.

I just use the Flight Outfitters ipad mini kneeboard usually... But I just checked and they don't sell the one I have anymore.
