During aircraft refurbishment, has anyone had there old gear legs sent out for inspection to insure they are at the proper angle and Non Destructive Testing for structural integrity and cracks?

I believe Rainbow use a Shop just North of Seattle. Is anyone familiar?

Thanks!

Yes, North Sound Aviation does the gear leg reconditioning and, as far as I know, tests for external and internal cracking. I'm not an expert but they don't just cold bend the gear back into shape, it's a lot more involved than that. I have a set of gear legs there right now for my Citabria.

Bart,

I believe that's the Shop I've been looking for. The number shown on the Internet is disconnected.

Do you have a current number?

Thank you!

For what it's worth, he doesn't charge much less than what it costs to buy reconditioned legs straight from Rainbow.

Appreciated,

Got thru to him on that Number, he's a Gentleman. He's been messing about with light aircraft since 1965. If you can change his old phone number on the Internet to the new one, he'd appreciate it :-)

Beading the paint off and Magna Fluxing them for cracks is a straightforward exercise. If they are bent, a little different story as you suggest.

Thanks kindly for the help!

Does anyone know how you can identify the year of production from the gear legs serial numbers stamped on the upper tip butts?

I have D750 & D873 on the Scout.

I asked Chad (ACA), he doesn't know but confirmed they are Bellanca Serial Numbers...
