Just pulled mine out. Going with black floorboards coated with Defthane. We'll see. Not even using heel plates for now.
A big caution: Cub guys are freaky about data plates. If one goes missing, the popular opinion is that you no longer have an aircraft, and a replacement, if it can be done at all, is thousands of dollars. Worse, if you are caught with a repro, the penalty is not much lighter than Murder 2.
So today as I was screwing my gorgeous black refinished plywood in place, I spotted that all-important data tag in the soon-to-be-trashed rug! Moral of the story: be careful when messing with rugs and data plates. A mistake can be catastrophic!
Speaking of screwing - throw away those crazy clips, and use #8 stainless B-type sheet metal screws (3/4") and Tinnerman nuts. Simply elegant! And Goodyear's mechanic says to put vibration dampening tape on the cross tubes under the floorboards. Too late for me . . .
