New Florida member with 1965 citabria airbox valve and arm question

I have a 1965 Citabria with O-200 and having trouble finding an airbox valve and control arm, none at the usual parts supplier, Wagaero, Univair and American Champion all good persons I talked to tried to help but no parts (#1-9325 or 1-9324 valve and arm). I if any one can point me right way great. Bill Pancake name also given but I need his contact info. Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Steve and welcome to the site. Do you have an airbox on hand that you want to replace? If so, you could try manufacturing the parts yourself if they aren't too complicated. Or a local machine shop might be able to make them if you provide the materials.

I think this is the applicable standard but final say would come from your IA.

Last thing I'd say is look at an airbox from the Cessna 150 which also used the O-200, it might be similar enough to work with your Citabria.

Thanks again the 150 box is close but not quite match, fabrication of new looks better than funky used thing on eBay, all good info to base decision on
 
I have no idea what these boxes look like, but the Cub used a steel box, and somebody got an STC IThink for a ball bearing repair. The bearings for the valve shaft were simply steel on steel, and wore quickly.

Being frugal, I just clean up the outer bearing surface, bring it up to cherry red, and add bronze welding rod. If the shaft is not red, the bronze forms a new bearing, good for thousands of hours.

My rod wore out and snapped off right at the bearing which is in good shape it is just no rod at the end opposite the arm. I just need about 1/2” of rod to go through the bearing and all good
 
a local machine shop should be able to make that for you. can you post a couple of pics to show what you're talking about?
 
I always thought bronze welding was just another name for brazing. But yeah, brazing rod and flux. Much better bearing surface than steel. Also doesn't wear out the rod.
