I am retired and enjoy my rebuild projects. Now on my third Citabria, plus I have had three Decathlons and a 7AC Champ. Love this airplane design and they are so easy to work on with plenty of parts available. My current project is a 1967 7ECA with Milman metal spars, Poly-Fiber covering and an overhauled engine. Has not flown since 1993 and went through several owners in California before I hauled it home to Tucson in a U-Haul truck. I will post photos and updates as the project goes forward.

Zero time engine? If you are re-selling it, the FAA is pretty adamant about who can assemble a zero time engine, and it ain't us. Be sure you have total time in that logbook, and not "estimated 3000 hours".

Sorry Bob, a poor choice of words on my part. All of my engines are overhauled per FAR 43.2(a) and continue forward with the original logbook and total hours in service.

hi Larry and welcome to ChampCitabriaDecathlonForums.com! Very nice to have another well-versed member in our ranks, would love to see photos of your projects at some point. Seeing these airframes with the fabric off helps to make sense of everything. :)

I guess I am sensitive. We are looking at what seems to be a very nice Cub with an engine that was "zero timed" about 300 hours ago. It got the Stroker mod after that, and the engine shop just mumbles about "time taken from logs 250 hours." It took some gentle encouragement to get the seller to research "total time." Thankfully, so far the Feds have not been known to declare "total time unknown" as a violation.
