Hello forum

After looking for 4 months I just purchased a 2014 Extreme Decathlon that I want to learn aerobatics in. Want to compete at the Sportsman level and hope that my newbie status at age 60 won't prevent that....

My airplane has a GTN 750, Glass ADI, EDM 930 and carbon fiber floorboards. Over equipped for the mission for sure!

Looking now for a good aerobatic instructor in and around the Dallas area. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks everyone here on the forum for help in obtaining my PPI in Wisconsin as well as advice, much appreciated!

She will find a nice warm home in my heated hangar here at Addison next to my Piper Tri Pacer (that was Grand Champion at Oshkosh in 2017)).

Mark

Congrats!!!!! What a horrible experience, having to settle for that 210hp sweet ass airplane when you only wanted a 150 to hug and love!! I so hope you're going to be ok!

Please post regularly as you're making progress with aerobatics, I'm hoping to be not too far behind sometime soon and could use the motivation.

Enjoy!

I would go the other way - I now lust for a 160 hp C/s Decathlon. But alas, no such thing.

I now get sick on the back side of a loop, and never really much cared for vertical rolls, so the 180 HP bird is more than I need. My rolls and upside down flight are done at cruise power.

I do like the colors, and those wingtips. What nice products ACA rolls out!

If you are in that market there is apparently no shortage. Every time I look in Trade-A-Plane there are three or four slightly used Decathlons. I haven't looked since the recent price increase.

Edit: five on Trade-A-Plane right now.

Congratulations Mark. I spent years looking and didn't do nearly as well as you. Nice bird. If you haven't already joined the IAC chapter in Denison, it would likely be a good resource for finding an instructor.
