New to group. Totally rebuilt 1978 Super Decathlon, N712K.

Hello guys,
I’m looking for tuning information. Aircraft came from NM, higher altitude airport to AL at 680 ft. The AEIO 360, all cyl’ s 78/80, is running a bit rich on takeoff and pulling the mixture control 1 inch, during the process, gives a substantial boost in power. I understand that the star wheel on the fuel injection unit adjusts the idle mixture. Is there any adjustment for mixture at full power? Ideas?

Two ideas come to mind, the first are your injectors, one on each cylinder. Are they clean and are the flowing correctly as well as are they the correct ones? GAMA guys might be helpful on this.
2 concerns the injector unit. Again I would ask the guys at Gama how to troubleshoot that.
One last thought as I am trying to think of the basics, the air box and the alternate air door. It could be letting warm unfiltered air in when in fact it should be totally sealed off when taking off.

Thanks for the suggestions. We are checking things one at a time. So far, everything is right where it should be. I checked the air box today and it’s delivering only cool air to the engine.

That is very true. Former owner said that it never had an issue where it came from. We are checking.

It's a very rare former owner who can recollect ever having the issues you call about.

I've ferried planes across the country many times. The sketchiest ones were cream puffs that just had an annual.

Seems to me what you are describing is common for the AEIO injection system. Lean it out a bit on takeoff?
