I just wait to see how long a break it will be. But this is too valuable a resource to let it go too long. I note that most of the recent posts are Bart, Chris, and me.
There are so many things I don't know about Champs in general - the knowledge that can be gathered from multiple participants is priceless!
Ask any question, no matter how simple you think it might be for others. Watch how much help you can get - for free!

I noticed that too Bob. I'm back in training for work so I won't be posting much for another couple of weeks. The engine for my Super Decathlon is done and the panel will be ready to go in and get wired up by the time I'm back so there ought to be a lot of progress starting in late March.

Nice of you to post and try to get things stirred up a bit!

For what it's worth, I've been kicking around the idea of deleting the "Like" button. Forums never had like buttons until Facebook did. The problem is, when someone likes a post, they end up not commenting and threads peter out. When someone likes something and posts a quick comment, activity generally picks up. The things I think about! lol

Can you do that easily? On another forum - "crowdstack" seems to be the provider - there is a button called "reply with quote." It is an awful button, allowing endless repetition of others' comments and photos. They are unable to get rid of it.

But I agree - better we learn to respond coherently.

I'm usually a busybody on the forum, but have been skiing in Colorado for the last 2 weeks. Back to flying tomorrow!

I’m taking off for Wyoming for the summer but I’m lurking in the background. Have a great trip.

Howdy,

Just got my Citabria back from it annual Inspection. After a half hour of rechecking all the work, and runup, and such, I deemed it airworthy.

A weekend ago, I did go to a Ski Plane Fly In on a lake here in Maine. I was the only one there with wheels only on my plane. Everyone else was on Ski's. It was slushy with overflow near the shore out to 75 ft or so, so I stayed away from shore.

The snowmobile club did groom the snow on the ice for me to land, so not too bad. Nice little 700ft makeshift runway. Still awaiting parts for installing my ski's. Need longer NAS/MS bolts for the gear where the tabs bolt on to. My gear is the steel type with the bar setup, not the "U" bolts. Just found a place that has the bolts, MS20007-40 in Florida, so need to order a couple.

Guess I may not be able to fly with ski's this season, but will be ready for next season.

Otherwise, nice to be back in the air again. Calling for 10-15 winds tomorrow and 35F and partly cloudy so looking like a good day after work tomorrow.

Thats about all I have to report from northern Maine at this time.

Would love to try ski plane flying someday. I just spent 2 weeks out in Colorado up in the mountains. Got about 2 feet of snow. Thinking hard about moving out there part time, so maybe that is the opportunity.

Howdy,

Had the Auto Collision shop at the school where I teach paint my ski's. Orange to match the rest of the plane. I have been told that a color is better to see in fluffy snow than white ski's.

Here is the pic. Getting Closer.

a bunch of guys from our local EAA chapter went up to Alton Bay a few weeks ago for the last opportunity of the season to land on the ice. I'm kicking myself for not going!

Looks like fun and it's great to see you're out there keeping the oil dry (and posting pics for the rest of us!)!

I like the like button.
I view it as sort of a shorthand version of "I agree" or "I don't really have anything to add about the conversation but enjoyed reading about the topic".

Should the like button be deleted I'm sure I'll still find a reason to visit this forum but the experience will be, unfortunately, degraded and less fulfilling. Also; given the amount of money I'm spending for membership here I might not be able to justify my continued presence if vital functions are removed without a substantial reduction in the yearly dues.

Howdy,

One thing that Forum's like this one is not only to give information and interact with other "Like Minded" folks, but also to share our flying adventures and maybe get others to get out and go places, or do something that they normally would not do.

It is all good information, technical, opinions, and just having fun. All relevant !!!!

So, Thanks for this Forum to voice myself, and maybe we can plan some "Get Togethers" around a place or event this summer in different places across the states.

Heck, I sold my Citabria a year ago and I still come here. I also am a fan of the "like" button. I'm on the Kitfox forum which doesn't have one. I often look in build threads and see great ideas, or someone who did excellent work. It isn't worth hitting reply just to say "awesome", so without a like button there isn't much feedback - even though you see the "views" number spike.

so, you're saying if the like button stays i can raise dues? 🤔🤔🤔

Sorry, it looks like the spell checker struck again. Yes, there were a couple planes in there on Saturday a couple of weeks ago. I missed it.
