I'm new to the forum, but just wanted to post an opportunity for any Decathlon or Citabria Driver types about a training camp in the Dallas area. This is the first of hopefully several camps that is designed as an introduction into aerobatic competition! Our goal is to grow grassroots aerobatics and help share the "fun"!! Here is the info:

Intro to Competition Aerobatics Camp

March 19, 20, 21. Friday, Saturday, Sunday

The camp will be held at KGYI or 3TX as an alternate.

This camp is designed mainly for pilots new to competition aerobatics. And planning to compete in either the Primary or Sportsman category.

The camp will focus on your specific goals.

Prerequisites:
--You should be qualified to operate the aircraft solo, take off and land in a cross wind, or bring your safety pilot with you.
--Have “G” tolerance appropriate to your category.
--Have some understanding of the--“Aresti” catalog
--Spin training in the type aircraft you will be flying or similar.
--Safely perform the maneuvers in the sequence.

The class will be limited to 6 participants.

The cost for the camp is $650 This will include ground classes and flight critique.
--$150 deposit by 2/25/2021, and the balance paid on the first day of class.

Welcome to the forums Julia and thanks for posting the info for your training camp! If anyone is interested, IAC 24 is a very active chapter and very engaged with bringing new people into the sport of precision aerobatics. Their training camp should be a great opportunity to take whatever recreational aerobatic experience you have and put a sharper edge on the maneuvers so as to be able to safely participate in a contest environment (and have fun while doing it ).

Good luck and let us know if any of you decide to attend. I'd go myself if it were A.closer and B.i had my vaccine by then (talk to my wife).

Thanks! We also try to hold a flyday the 2nd Saturday of every month for anyone that is close and would to practice, receive critiques or watch! Usually lunch is included and spouses, family and friends are always encouraged! They are either at KGYI or 3TX. Check our chapter website or facebook for updates!
