Reinstalling front seat

Anyone have a good procedure for re-installing the front seat in a 95 7GCBC? Every year after the annual, reinstalling the front seat is a pain in the butt. This seat has a spring loaded height adjustment. It’s not too bad with two people, but frustrating when doing it solo. Lee

Hi Lee,

I must be missing something... Maybe it's a different seat on a '95.

On my '76 7GCBC, installing the front seat takes about 5-10min. It's pretty simple to tip the seat rearward, install the rear bolts, and then rotate it forward to install the front bolts. It's done while standing outside the door. The only slight problem is pushing the nuts down into the carpet enough to start them. I use nyloc nuts.

Also, I'm having a hard time visualizing having room for two people simultaneously installing it. Paul

I wish mine was that easy. The problem is the strong spring in the adjustable height mechanism. The bolts in the carpet are just a nuisance. Lee

I've had limited luck using needlenose vice grips to hold the bushing into the two legs done while getting the bolt part way through. Then I push as best I can against the bushing while releasing the vice grips and pushing the bolt the rest of the way through. I am considering putting a tiny dab of JB Weld on the outer rim of the bushing so I can essentially glue it to the inner leg. That way the bushing will still pivot around the bolt and the second leg can still move seperately. If the bushing can't push out of the inner leg it should be a whole lot easier to manage. Just an idea for the next time I take the seat out, worst case I have to rip it out and buy a new bushing for $15. ($10 is shipping from ACA.)
