The foam-backed fabric lining on the backside of my boot cowl and firewall needs to be replaced. The adhesive is failing, causing the top of the fabric to hang down. The foam backing is disintegrating and foam crumbs are starting to show up.

Accessing the fabric from the inside seems like a circus contortionist act. Can the boot cowl be easily removed?

What happens if I yank the old stuff out but don't replace it right away?

You die! The engine will turn around and nibble through the firewall, and chew . . .
Nuts - I am halfway through a Margarita and watching a raucous debate. Forgive me.

And can I install it from the inside on a Decathlon with the header tank in the way?

Ed, I've got a fuselage and a loose boot cowl, give me a little time and I'll make a short video for you today showing how it all goes together.

Very. Apparently, "Proud Boys" got the message.

To the original question - the firewall without a textile coating should protect you from undue heat. You will not notice the extra noise.

Found an old thread on FB with pictures of boot cowl removal. Looks doable, and way better than trying to work under the panel. A project for once the weather cools down and I get into a private hanger.
