Renamed the Fabric/Paint MX & Repair forum to Fabric & Paint General Discussions. Also added a sub-forum for Stewart Systems. Will be adding other covering, paint, etc. sub-forums as necessary.

Not playing favorites, just putting up the forums and subs for what is being discussed. Don't be shy, if you have an idea for a change or addition just post a new thread and we'll kick your idea around until we make someone (maybe you!) happy.

When I get some time I will put one up for Poly Fiber! Definitely not enough info out there that is current with people willing to answer questions

Poly Fiber is so straightforward that it really doesn't need much discussion. The only tricky part is the color coat. Poly Tone is not tricky, but Aerothane needs some care.

My first Poly Fiber was 1969, under the long distance guidance of Ray Stitts. I think I was the first customer for pinked-edge Dacron surface tapes.

I mostly use Ceconite because the materials are about half, and I can get a good finish with Butyrate. But my airplane is approved for Stitts/Butyrate via the early STC, so I am ok either way.

@Bob Turner might be straight forward to you but not everyone else. While the book is great, it doesn’t give things that I wish I had known when I started with it. Book doesn’t say the type of compound to use, the best methods for it, tapes to use, wait times that show best results, and all the bad things poly fiber wouldn’t say about themselves in their own book.

Also, tricks to the system and other people’s experience just makes anyone’s go faster.

Okay. I will comment - but tapes are sort of dictated by the manufacturer - and in some cases common sense. What I hate is folks using bias tapes and not cutting the splice out. Ugh!
