I just purchased a 1972 7GCBC and am in need of a local reputable mechanic that can do some minor fabric work and misc items. Also someone to impart some tribal knowledge to this I/A mechanic. Aircraft will be based at the French Valley Airport (F70) in Murrieta, CA.

@Bob Turner is SoCal based, he's active and can help I'm sure.

Welcome! Have fun with the plane and feel free to use the site as you wish! Have any photos?

Need to pick up the aircraft in Arizona and get it back here so I can go through it thoroughly. Some minor corrosion and fabric work to be done but other than tat I am very happy with the purchase. Now to get my TW EndorsementFront.webpLeft Side.webpLF Corner.webpOn Beach.webp

Yes, but it has been down for a prop strike. Taking a long time. It belongs to Francisco - I will check on Monday.

We are starting to have insurance problems - happy to help you get that thing out of Arizona, but it would have to be an instructional flight for my insurance to work, and your insurer would have to do a waiver on the hull. Avemco has something that costs nothing, but they don't call it a "waiver of subrogation."

There are a lot of good tailwheel instructors who do not worry about insurance. Very few carry the SAFE liability insurance, thinking that the owners' policies cover them. My CFI liability only insurance is $500/ - compare that to my Decathlon liability, which is less than half of that.

Not yet. I was at the aircraft yesterday 11/30 and gave it a good look over. I bought a Pitts S1S as well and they were at the same airport. Got the Pitts back to California and will go collect the Citabria this week.

Well you won’t have any issues with the Citabria if you like flying the Pitts.

I should have worded that last reply a little more explicitly. I "got the Pitts back to California" means I paid a friend of mine to fly it back while I drove the roundtrip Phoenix and back in the same day. Spent a few hours going over the Pitts and departed him before turning my eyes on the Citabria. It will need some TLC. Corrosion at the elevator hinges, paint peeling in several places, normal wear and tear, but I believe it is a sound airframe. Was hoping to get it back here this week but the weather forecast doesn't look too friendly for a first flight back to California. One of my CFI's is bringing it back for me (I own Executive Flight Institute at the French Valley Airport (F70). We are a Part 141 school with a varied fleet and growing. www.flyefi.com

I do know them but not really active with the EAA yet, but that will change with the acquisition of the Pitts. I am going to lean on them for some fabric refresher info as well.
