Wondering if any of the members here have experience with them on the 7GCBC wing ?
How do they really affect slow speed performance ?
I am considering the Micro brand .
 
So I hear. I fly a lot of Cubs and in the olden days C-180s with and without - AMD and Micro. I may not be the world’s best test pilot, but I spend a great deal of time at 40 indicated. I do not feel the difference.

I was able to feel the difference when we put a cuff on the 180 wing.
 
It is hard to get my Citabria to stall. Just saying. I bring it in at 60 with flaps two. It will easily do fifty. I’m a little pussy to go slower. Plus the stall warning is going off intermittently. 😬😬
 
I bring my Decathlon in at 60 - doesn’t seem to know I forgot to glue on the VGs. Doesn’t have flaps.
 
🤔 I’ve always thought that the stall warning was set a little high in mine. It sounds intermittent at 55 or maybe a little faster in bumpy air. Feels like it’s flying fine. Still a little disconcerting. If I come in at 60 it floats a lot. Just saying. Over the fence at around fifty it does just fine in relatively calm winds. I always make darn sure that the ball is centered at low speed!! BTW 60 is fine for a X-Wind...

i think the stall warning vane has mounting slots instead of holes so it can be adjusted a little bit.

Sadly, there is no FAR that applies to taking advice from an internet forum and then flying your airplane after applying said advice so FAR 91.3 it is! :ROFLMAO:

Stall warning devices always go off well before stall. I am not at all sure why the Decathlon even has one, but I think a properly functioning Decathlon unit will be on during approach and initial climb out.

Not sure why mine no longer does that - deafness and a good headset? I should probably look at the breaker now and then. Or clean the bubble gum out of the slot.

Remember the new approach to stall maneuver? Recover at the first hint . . .
 
My Decathlon horn goes off pretty close to the break. Maybe 5 mph above. It never goes off except when I stall or spin deliberately. See 0:25-0:33 of video for example.

 
In the 737 we would recover at the shaker, well above the actual stall. Later on, in training/Sim we took it all the way to the stall, at different altitudes. And flap settings. The amount of aerodynamic warning we got was a real eye opener.

One other thing I just noticed. If you watch the bottom of the screen, my RC Allen electronic AI is visible during higher G maneuvers. The camera mount must flex some. If you watch the last few seconds of the video, you will see that the AI finished the sequence in reference. I think it lost reference and tumbled for a few of the more complex maneuvers, but righted itself in between maneuvers. I have heard that some of the other AI's will lose reference in a prolonged turn. This is a pretty good vote of confidence for RC Allen devices in IMC ... IMO.
