Pains me to see it wither...father taught me to fly and son is a very close friend of mine. My kids call him "uncle"Good luck Dave and welcome to the site!
Let us know what you find out there. There's a derelict Scout not far from where I live sitting outside rotting but nobody can get the deceased owner's son to sell it!
That hurt too Ed..I missed bobs plane by a day or two. Neglected to tune in for a few days or I'd own it. Snooze lose booze rinse repeat. I forgive Bart for not calling me too (insert smiley face thing here)Find some pictures of old ones that sat outside for 5 or 10 years rotting and show him those.
Or show him the thread with the Decathlon that Bob sold recently. Metal wings, CS prop, 30k!!
Lost my Dad last year so I can relate. But the best way to honor his legacy is for the airplane to fly.
Bart, I even offered to restore it for him at my expense. when complete we would decide to sell outright, keep as partners or he buy me out for costs ( without labor )@angelo c
How do we sit down with him and find out what his apprehension is about selling it? I've been told he'll sell it but he's not dealing in reality with his asking price. The Cub too that is sitting next to it!
If ya find a "good one" for sale for $50k look me up...Yep. Leave it outside long enough and it will be scrap. Consider - fifty grand will buy a really good Scout. Or you can buy a basket case and spend $75 grand to own an sircraft worth fifty. Let it rot; there are plenty other good ones out there.

LOL, believe me, I thought about buying it and I already own a Decathlon!
