Went Flying Today......2018

Would love to see some photos.....can really use the motivation to get my wings back together! The weather here isn't feeling very spring like!

In addition to the weather being horrible, my old reliable laptop has been bricked by my attempt to update it to Win10 so I can't even look at my own flying photos! lol

edit: my old laptop lived through its OS update but the little bastard deleted all of my old files and pics so I've got nothing until my wings are back together! :(

Me too - started in Florida last Friday, landed in SoCal (MYF) this morning. A true adventure. 65 hp Chief. Only one engine failure. Ground speed as I approached the last mountains got down to 7 knots for a while.

Pictures! We need pictures! :geek:

The support. New style.
Home made, removeable, anytime the feds get 10 ft near the plane...
Used to have an original GoPro plastic one, glued and riveted to the aluminum supports that bolts to the vertical stab, with a safe line (with a fast connector, just like the ones on the airport ID card) on one side of the bolt and other end on the GoPro, not to loose it inflight.

It happened that the plastic support broke, the goPro hung on the opposite side of the the safety line, blocking the rudder.
... at 200ft on the inverted downline of a Cuban-Eight on an airshow...
For one second I didn't realize what was happening, but was (cursing) hard enough on the rudder on that half-roll, to break the safety line.
I used some of my safety altitude margin that day.

... no one found that GoPro...
... and I got the hell of a scare.
... no more safety lines near any moveable surface anymore !!!

That white horseshoe is a silicon vibration damper, to prevent the GoPro lock to come loose and open.

No safety lock on this setup. If anything breaks, it will fall loose and bye bye GoPro... But no rudder lock anymore !

that's what I meant, a lock for the gopro latch.....never knew that :)

Almost went flying today but their schedule was full! Checked out their Cub and Citabria 7GCAA that are available for dual instruction and solo rentals...that's @CubMan checking out, what else?....the Cub. I'm on the schedule to get checked out in the Cub next Wednesday.

Bird of Paradise is the operator at Van Sant Airport in Eastern PA. They're doing a great job of keeping some pretty cool airplanes available for instruction (there's a woman there getting her private in an Ercoupe!) and solo rental.
