Hi all,

Is your aircraft in an airworthy state in the eyes of the FAA when the 337 form has been submitted or only after it's been received and acknowledged/returned by the FAA?

Thanks!

They do not acknowledge or return them. They don't even look at them any more. The minute your IA signs, you are good to go. He/she is then obligated to give you a copy and send a copy to OKC within 48 hours.

I am assuming you are talking about major repairs. If it is a major alteration, you (the owner) should ensure that what was altered was approved. For simplicity, look for an STC (and a signed grant to your N-number in most cases) or an FAA stamp in block 3. A lot of IAs still think they have authority to approve alterations. They only approve the installation.
