Gentlemen;
For those of you who have replaced plywood bulkheads and wood stringers in your projects, did you ever have trouble with the stringer alignments in the bulkheads ? I used factory bulkheads and stringers, attached to existing welded fuselage tabs and found 6 of the 8 stringers to have some sort of mis-alignment where the stringers took on a snake type alignment. The snake pattern would externally be noticeable where the fabric contacts the stringer.

I had to re-notch some of the bulkheads and glue fillers onto the stringers to get an acceptable alignment. A few were off by 1/2". Am I being "to picky" or is this a normal encounter ?

With the exception of the two lower stringers on each side of my Champ all the stringers need to curve, bend and twist a small amount to line up with the cutouts in the bulkheads...thats why they have to be "tied down" into the slots prior to covering. The hardest ones for me were the mushroom stringers on the top of the plane...the one in the top corners. I finally soaked them with rubbing alcohol and wired them in place.

Eric, surf through this thread and let me know if there are any additional photos that would be helpful. the covering is still off my project so the stringers and formers are open
