Hi Jason,
I have a 3 1/8" that was overhauled by Century about a year ago, maybe a little more. They also redid the face and it has Bellanca on it. Not cheap but she's a beauty. Can post a pic if you'd like.

I cannot admit to overhauling one, but if I were ever to attempt such an illegal act, I would replace the string with fishing line and expect maybe 40 years of flawless performance? That would be the 2 1/4” variety; no idea what's Inside the larger one.
Similar, easier for people with big fingers.
